Springfield's Urban Challenge is October 3

The Springfield-Greene County Park Board will host the Springfield Urban Challenge beginning at 3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, at Cooper Tennis Complex, 2331 E. Pythian St., with early registration pricing ending this week.

The Urban Challenge is a race through and around Springfield. Teams compete against each other to complete the course the fastest using a variety of transportation means (bike, running, walking, and swimming). Participants must be 18 years of age and older. They will encounter both mental and physical challenges during the race, requiring quick thinking and strong teamwork skills.

There are two divisions – Adult Long Course, for a team of three; and Adult Short Course, for a team of three. Early registration on or before Friday, Sept. 18, Long Course is $100/team; Short Course is $75/team. Registrations will be accepted through Friday, Sept. 25. Registrations received after Sept. 18 are $120/team for Long Course; $95/team for Short Course.
