For Immediate Release
Rescheduled ArtsFiesta! is October 9
The Springfield Sister Cities Association’s (SSCA) annual ArtsFiesta! celebration, which was postponed in early May, will be held from 6 – 9 p.m., Friday, Oct. 9, in Founders Park, 330 E. Water St., in downtown Springfield.
The event is a Mexican cultural celebration, which will feature an all-female Mariachi band “Mariachi Femenil Nuevo Tecalitlan” and male vocalist Felipe Villalobos from Springfield’s sister city of Tlaquepaque, Mexico. ArtsFiesta! will present various children’s games, authentic Mexican food and traditional Mexican dancing with costumes performed by Grupo Latino Americano and Grupo Libertad.
The event is $3. Children under the age of 10 are free. A rain date of Saturday, Oct. 10, is scheduled in the event of inclement weather. A delegation of Tlaquepaque city officials will travel to Springfield with the performance group.
ArtsFiesta! is presented by American Family Insurance, Frito Lay, the City of Tlaquepaque, Mexico, O’Reilly Auto Parts and the Springfield-Greene County Park Board.
