Zoo Presents Salute to Veterans

Dickerson Park Zoo will present a “Salute to Veterans” at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 11, in the park’s Junior League Amphitheatre.

The choir from Hillcrest High School will begin the festivities by singing the “National Anthem.” The highlight of the program will be a presentation by zoo staff and volunteers featuring the zoo’s bald eagle Phoenix and golden eagle Aquila.

Veterans receive free zoo admission on Nov. 11.

Regular zoo admission is $7 for adults and teenagers, $5 for children ages 3-12, $5 for seniors age 60 and older and free for children age 2 and younger. Friends of the Zoo members also receive free admission. For more information about the zoo, visit or call 417-864-1800.

Dickerson Park Zoo is open during winter months from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., weather permitting. The zoo will be closed if there is ice or snow on the walkways. Dickerson Park Zoo is also closed on these holidays: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
