For Immediate Release
Installation of Two New Signals to Begin
The City of Springfield will install traffic signals at two new locations beginning on Dec. 28, 2009.
The new locations are:
- Division Street and Packer Road. The signal is needed to accommodate an increase in traffic on Packer Road and to help southbound truck traffic turn left onto Division Street.
- Primrose Street and Delaware Avenue. This signalization project was the top priority from the Bradford Park Neighborhood Assessment in April 2008 to help improve safety and accommodate increased traffic in that area.
Both projects are funded through the ¼-cent sales tax for capital improvements 2007-2010 program.
Hartman & Company is the contractor for the projects. Construction activity may affect lanes at certain periods, but no full road closures will be necessary. Motorists are asked to use caution while driving through the work zones.
Both new signals are expected to be completed in April 2010.
