For Immediate Release

Fremont & Briar Intersection Changing to 3-way Stop

Beginning Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010, the “T” intersection of South Fremont Avenue at Briar Road will be temporarily converted from a single stop sign for southbound Fremont traffic to a 3-way stop.

The Traffic Engineering Division is installing additional stop signs in order to handle increased traffic being diverted away from construction projects at the James River Freeway (U.S. 60) and National Avenue interchange. The Missouri Department of Transportation is leading a project to convert the interchange into a diverging diamond configuration. That project is scheduled for completion in August 2010.

After construction at the James River Freeway/National Avenue interchange is completed, the intersection at Fremont and Briar will be re-evaluated to determine whether there is a need to continue the all-way stop sign control.
