Kinney Charged with Multiple Counts of Tampering

James L. Kinney, 30, of Springfield has been charged with 10-counts of 1st Degree Tampering for his involvement in multiple thefts from vehicles in the Park Central and Missouri State University area.

The string of larcenies started on January 1, 2010 and continued until his arrest yesterday. Police are continuing their investigation into several other similar types of thefts and further charges are possible.

Items that were stolen from the vehicles included I-Pods, wallets containing credit cards and debit cards, laptop computers, GPS equipment and cash.

Police remind citizens not to leave valuable electronics and personal credit devices in parked cars.
