Sister Cities Meeting Features International Musician

The Springfield Sister Cities Association will hold its annual membership meeting at 6:30 p.m., Friday, March 5, at the Doubletree Hotel Springfield, 2431 N. Glenstone Ave., with a special visit and performance by international recording artist Paco Padilla, from Springfield’s sister city of Tlaquepaque, Mexico.

The event is free for all paid SSCA members; or $25 at the door will provide a one-year membership to the organization and entry into the event. Food and drink is provided.

SSCA will celebrate its accomplishments for 2009 and discuss upcoming events and programs for 2010. Springfield’s JRB Band, who recently traveled to Tlaquepaque, will also perform at the meeting.

The organization and the Springfield-Greene County Park Board also will celebrate the opening of the Mizumoto Japanese Stroll Garden from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., Sat., March 27, with the 6th Annual Cherry Blossom Kite Festival. The Stroll Garden is located in Nathanael Greene/Close Memorial Park, 2400 S. Scenic Ave. Admission is free.
