Statewide Storm Siren Drill Postponed

The statewide storm siren drill scheduled for Tuesday has been postponed until Thursday, March 11, at 1:30 p.m., due to the slight chance for severe weather Tuesday.

The statewide drill is coordinated by the State Emergency Management Agency and the National Weather Service, in observance of Severe Weather Awareness Week, March 8-12. Emergency management officials encourage residents to familiarize themselves with the dangers of severe thunderstorms, tornados, lightning, and floods.

Area residents, businesses, and schools are urged to treat Thursday’s storm siren drill as if it were an actual emergency, and practice moving to designated tornado shelters in lower levels of buildings, away from windows and glass doors.
