Marc Thornsberry Retirement Reception

The public is invited to a retirement reception for Public Works Director Marc Thornsberry at 4 p.m., Wednesday, April 7, 2010, in the Busch Building Lobby.

The program will begin about 4:15 p.m.

Thornsberry is retiring after 18 years with the City of Springfield – all as Public Works Director – and nearly 40 years of local government service. Before joining the City in 1992, he had worked for Cole County and the City of Jefferson City.

He has accepted a position as Traffic Safety Engineer for the Federal Highway Administration in Jefferson City beginning April 26.

Thornsberry has received a number of honors during his career in Springfield, including being named one of the Top 10 Public Works Leaders by the American Public Works Association and being inducted into the Academy of Civil Engineers at his alma mater, the Missouri University of Science & Technology.
