Investigation of Attempted Assault

The Springfield Police Department is investigating the assault of a 24-year old female in the 600 block of Boonville. The victim stated that a male approached her with an instrument that she described as a knife outside her apartment, and demanded that she let him into her apartment. The suspect got into an elevator with the victim and rode to the second floor of the apartment building. When the victim got off the elevator, with the suspect, she screamed for help and the suspect took off running. The assault occurred on April 11, 2010 at approximately 2:40 a.m.

The photographs below were taken by security cameras at the victim’s apartment complex. The suspect is described as a white male, 6-1, slim build, brown facial hair and brown hair. The suspect also had what appeared to be a “tribal” tattoo around his neck. He also had tattoos from his knees to his ankles.
