Thank a Nurse During National Nurses Week
Today, May 6, 2010, marks the beginning of National Nurses Week and is marked as RN Recognition Day. Nurses work throughout our country and right here in Greene County to save lives and promote health for the people of our community. They are a fundamental part of healthcare and we celebrate the work they do!
Nurses are involved in diverse aspects of health care including public health. The Springfield-Greene County Health Department would like to recognize the work of all nurses in our community and especially those that work to serve and protect the health of the public throughout Greene County at the health department. Nurses at the Springfield-Greene County Health Department protect the health and safety of our community with:
- Education to the community on a variety of health-related topics
- Patient screenings
- Visits to mothers and infants in special cases
- STD testing and care
- TB testing and education
- Pregnancy testing
- Childcare provider education
Nurses possess a unique skill set including a wealth of knowledge, compassion, adaptability and professionalism that provides for the needs of people in our community in a variety of settings. These skills and the nurses that provide for the well-being of our community are a vital part of the health and vitality that we all experience. Take time to thank a nurse for their commitment to health and their service to our community!
