Mother's Day Events at Farm Park and Zoo

Mother’s Day events will be celebrated at the Rutledge-Wilson Farm Community Park, 3825 W. Farm Road 146 and at Dickerson Park Zoo, 1401 W. Norton Road, Saturday, May 8 and Sunday, May 9.

Mother’s Day at the Farm: Bring your mom to the Farm Park 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Saturday, May 8 or Noon – 4 p.m., Sunday, May 9. Enjoy a picnic lunch for $6 per person, which includes a sandwich, chips, cookie and drink. Reservations for the picnic need to be made by Thursday, May 6. Activities include making fresh flower arrangements for $5 per vase; a tissue paper flower for $1; and a Mother’s Day pull-out card for $1. Carriage rides are available for $3 per rider, five years and older; four years and younger are free.

Mother’s Day at the Zoo: Moms receive free admission to the Zoo all day on Sunday, May 9. Zoo hours are 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. The first 500 mothers will receive a free flower, to plant in their flower bed at home. Mothers also can enter a drawing to receive a behind-the-scenes “Extraordinary Encounter” at the Zoo. Children will be able to plant their own seed in a newspaper flower pot or make a birdseed bracelet for free. Admission is $8 for adults and teens, $5 for children 3-12, and free admission for mothers.
