Parks Offers Three Father's Day Events

The Springfield-Greene County Park Board has three unique ways to celebrate Father’s Day weekend June 19 & 20. Each park location hosts a separate event: Dickerson Park Zoo, 1401 W. Norton Road; Jordan Valley Park, 735 E. Trafficway; and Rutledge-Wilson Farm Community Park, 3825 W. Farm Road 146.

Summer SnowFest: The free ninth annual Summer SnowFest at Jordan Valley Park takes place from 4 – 9 p.m., Saturday, June 19 and features a "mountain" of snow for kids to play in.

Several activities available throughout the afternoon include: live entertainment, military equipment, interactive games, snowman building contest, inflatables for the smaller children and giveaways. Local live entertainment acts include:

Father’s Day at the Farm: The free event runs 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., Saturday, June 19 and noon – 4 p.m., Sunday, June 20. Dads will enjoy bluegrass music, barbecue treats, and building a birdhouse. Fishing poles and equipment, as well as pedal tractors will be available for the children. Some activities do include a small fee.

Saturday only, enjoy a lawn mower tractor pull from noon – 4 p.m. The lawn mower pull is $1 for kids 4 – 11 years of age; $2 for children 12 years and older; kids under four are free. To learn more about the Farm Park, visit http://bit.ly/UGobz or call 417-837-5949.

Father’s Day at the Zoo: Dad’s receive free admission to Dickerson Park Zoo all day from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Sunday, June 20.
