For Immediate Release
Art Goes WILD at the Zoo
Dickerson Park Zoo and Friends of the Zoo will partner with the Springfield Regional Arts Council for the 7th annual Art Gone WILD! on Saturday, June 26, from noon to 4 p.m.
Five hands-on art stations will be open for children ages 12 and younger:
- "Bird Buddy" – create colorful birds
- "Chicks in a Nest" – make a baby chick's nest
- "Animal Origami" – simple origami animal shapes
- "Animal Ear Hats" – grow your own animal ears
- "Feather Painting" at the Conservation Station
Art Gone WILD! activities are free with paid zoo admission. As in the past, Art Gone WILD! activities incorporate a "green" theme by utilizing recycled or reused materials – underscoring Dickerson Park Zoo's mission to inspire the public to conserve and protect natural resources.
Buckets 'N' Boards will perform from 1:30-3:30 p.m. There will also be a booth where zoo guests can vote for the "People's Choice" award from selected entries in the "Walk on the Wild Side" photo and video contest from KY3.com's YouNews TV page. Krispy Kreme doughnuts will hand out free doughnuts from noon-4 p.m.
Children are invited to participate in the Springfield Regional Arts Council's Free Art Day from 10 a.m.to noon, on June 26, at the Creamery Arts Center. The first 100 children participating in those activities will receive a ticket for free admission that afternoon to Dickerson Park Zoo for Art Gone WILD!
Dickerson Park Zoo is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission fees are $8 for adults and teenagers, $5 for seniors age 60 and older, $5 for children ages 3-12 and free for children age 2 and younger.
