Public Forum on IDEA Commons Input, June 29
The City of Springfield Department of Planning and Development will hold a public forum in the Brick City Gallery, 215 W. Mill Street, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 29, 2010 to discuss the development of a plan for the IDEA Commons planning area. The meeting itinerary will include an open house from 5:30-6 p.m., Staff presentation of the IDEA Commons Background Report and an outline of the planning process from 6-6:30 p.m., and an open forum for discussion and public comment from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
The IDEA Commons planning area is a sub-district identified within the Jordan Valley Concept Plan. It comprises approximately 88 acres generally located between East Chestnut Expressway to the north, East Water Street to the south, North Campbell Avenue to the west, and Jordan Creek to the east. The plan will coordinate future planning and development efforts in support of Missouri State University’s IDEA Commons initiative to redevelop this portion of Center City into a new type of research park that will be blended with residential, office, retail, entertainment, and industrial land uses, and supported by University programs.
