IDEA Commons Plan Public Forum August 2

The City of Springfield Department of Planning and Development will hold a public forum from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Monday, Aug. 2, at the Brick City Gallery, 215 W. Mill St., to discuss the draft IDEA Commons Plan. The meeting will include an open house from 5:30 to 6 p.m., a presentation of the draft IDEA Commons Plan from 6 to 6:30 p.m., and an open forum for discussion and public comment from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The IDEA Commons is a sub-district within Jordan Valley. It comprises approximately 88 acres generally located between East Chestnut Expressway to the north, East Water Street to the south, North Campbell Avenue to the west, and Jordan Creek to the east.

The plan will coordinate future planning and development efforts in support of Missouri State University’s IDEA Commons initiative to redevelop this portion of Center City into a new type of research park that will be blended with residential, office, retail, entertainment, and industrial land uses, and supported by University programs.

Additional information, including a copy of the draft IDEA Commons Plan and Background Report can be found online at www.springfieldmo.gov/jvp/idea.html.
