USGS to Brief Council on Coal Tar Sealant
The City of Springfield has been studying the potential impact that the use of coal tar sealant may have on ground water. As part of the discussion, presentations have been made before the City Council Community Involvement Committee. During those presentations, studies from the United States Geological Survey (USGS) were frequently referenced.
At 6:30 p.m., Aug. 3, 2010, Dr. Barbara Mahler and Dr. Peter Van Metre, of the USGS, will present the findings from studies on coal tar sealants in other communities to the Springfield City Council in the City Council Chambers in Historic City Hall.
This meeting is intended as an informational exchange between the USGS scientists and members of the Springfield City Council. While it is open to the public, no public comment will be taken.
