Damage Assessment Drill in Rountree, Delaware Areas

The Springfield-Greene County Office of Emergency Management will conduct a damage assessment drill in two central Springfield neighborhoods Saturday, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Several teams of four emergency management personnel will spend the day locating and evaluating hypothetical damage on properties in the vicinity of Rountree and Delaware elementary schools.

“If you see a group of four looking at your house and entering data into hand-held electronic devices, don’t panic,” said Ryan Nicholls, director of the Springfield-Greene County Office of Emergency Management. “They are not reporting actual damage. They’re just practicing locating properties and entering hypothetical information into a damage assessment database.”

Nicholls said the teams are working on making the disaster assessment process more efficient.

Personnel involved in the drill will not trespass on private property and will carry identification from the Office of Emergency Management.

For more information, call Ryan Nicholls at 869-6040 or Jenny Fillmer Edwards, Greene County Public Information Office, at 829-6019 or 417-224-5510.
