Walgreens Robbery Suspect Charged
On July 30, 2010 at 8:55 p.m. a suspect entered the Walgreens Pharmacy at 2681 W. Republic Rd, and approached the pharmacy counter. When he was contacted by the pharmacy employee, he displayed a pistol and demanded narcotics. The employee cooperated and gave the suspect several bottles of Oxycodone pills. He was last seen southbound on Scenic Avenue, driving a silver, four-door passenger car. The suspect was described as a white male, wearing a tan, Carhartt-style jacket, gloves and a mask.
A few days later the same employee who was robbed called Springfield Police stating she had just filled the prescription of a customer who she believed was the robbery suspect. She was able to obtain a license plate from the silver car he left in and through further investigation, Springfield Police identified the suspect as Douglas F. Manning. Detectives advised other agencies Manning was wanted for Robbery and at noon on Aug. 17, Manning was arrested by the Republic Police Department.
Douglas F. Manning has been charged by the Greene County Prosecutor with 1st Degree Pharmacy Robbery and is being held on a $150,000 bond.
