Robbery Suspect Arrested
Joseph L. Johns, 37, of Springfield, has been charged in connection with three separate robberies on August 5, 2010. The Greene County Prosecutor filed two counts of 2nd Degree Robbery and one count of Attempted 2nd Degree Robbery against Johns. He is currently being held in the Greene County Jail.
Johns targeted all three elderly female victims during an afternoon crime spree in which he attempted to rob a 75-year old female at the Price Cutter (712 W. Commercial St.), he then robbed a 63-year old female at Womack’s (1130 N. Grant Ave.) and then an 81-year old female at Aldi’s (1645 E. Kearney St.).
In all three incidents the suspect approached the victims in the parking lot of the businesses and forcibly stole or attempted to steal their purses.
