Fatality Crash Investigation

The Springfield Police Department is investigating a fatality crash that was discovered by a citizen at 3:59 a.m. this morning. A citizen was passing by and found a 1999 Toyota Avalon had crashed into the concrete base of a light pole in the median at Glenstone Avenue and Seminole Street. The driver, Michael Camp, 22, of Springfield, was transported to St. Johns and died shortly after arrival. It appears the driver was southbound on Glenstone and had drifted over, striking the light pole, which is positioned in the center median on the south side of the intersection.

The cause of the crash is unknown, and an autopsy will be scheduled later. The driver was wearing a seatbelt and there were no passengers in the car.
