Public Works would like to remind drivers not to go around barricades and not to cross roadways covered with water. If you do not need to be out, consider staying home this evening, and allow for extra time when traveling to work Thursday morning.

Basement Backups

Public Works wastewater personnel also will remain on duty this evening to take calls about basement backups and flooding. Residents with flooded basements should call 864-1923 to record the incident. It’s important to note that Public Works is not able to respond to these calls, or mitigate the problem. There is little that can be done for backups as they occur. However, accurate tracking of backups helps Public Works determine where the greatest needs for improvements exist.

Public Works has logged more than 7 inches of rain in its gauges today as of about 5 p.m.
