7th Annual Dog Swim September 7

The Springfield Citizens Dog Park Committee and Springfield-Greene County Park Board will host the 7th annual Dog Swim event from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 7, at Fassnight Park Pool, 1300 S. Campbell Ave. Before draining the public pool for the season, the dog swim will allow an opportunity for unleashed dogs to play and swim freely in the fenced pool area.

Due to on-going construction on Campbell Avenue, participants should use the Grant Avenue west entrance to the Park.

The cost for the event is $8 per dog, including one handler; additional spectators are $3. Limit one dog per handler. Registration is required for all dogs. Humans will not be allowed into the pool with their dogs. Proof of vaccinations for Rabies, Parvo, Distemper and Bordetella is required for all dogs to participate. Presenting sponsor Pet Warehouse will have towels and treats for participating dogs.

Proceeds benefit the Cruse Dog Park, 2100 W. Catalpa St. The annual Dogfest event also will be held from 10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 25 (Rain date: 1 – 4:30 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 26), at Chesterfield Park, 2511 W. Republic Road. The all-canine related festival features commercial vendors and non-profit organizations and demonstrations, along with the popular Dachshund Dash. The event is free and open to the public. All dogs must be on leash.
