Ozark Greenways Encourages Common Safety Precautions

As we enter the fall season, the area’s greenways system continues to see high usage rates. Ozark Greenways encourages users to continue to take typical safety precautions when using a trail or parking a vehicle at area trailheads or other parking lots.

October is Crime Prevention Month. As highlighted in a current Public Service Announcement campaign, “Lock It To Stop It,” (streaming online at a number of precautions should be taken when using the trails system: carry a cell phone, tell someone where you’re going, travel with a partner and be aware of your surroundings. And remember, never keep valuables in cars and secure personal items, windows and door locks when parking your vehicles.

The greenway trails system is a very safe place to visit. And with high usage rates, trails actually have a neighborhood watch quality about them. Neighbors look out for each other and take pride in “their” trails. As with anywhere, take the necessary steps to keep yourself and property safe.
