Stolen Property Recovered in Belton, MO

The Springfield Police Department, Greene County Sheriff’s Office and the Missouri Highway Patrol, working with the Cass County Sheriff’s Department, has seized nearly a quarter of million dollars in stolen property from a warehouse in Belton, Missouri.

Information developed by a local property task force, made up of detectives from the Springfield Police Department, Greene County Sheriff’s Office and the Missouri Highway Patrol led to Cass County. Recovered at the warehouse in Belton included automotive batteries that was stolen from a tractor trailer in Cuba, Missouri. Local investigators believe the batteries were stolen in Cuba, and then brought to Springfield before being transported to Belton. The trailer unit that housed the stolen batteries was recovered in Greene County. Investigators also found candy from a stolen tractor trailer unit from the Joplin area. The candy was valued over $58,000, and the batteries valued over $50,000.

The Property Task Force, that has been developed locally, primarily focuses on burglaries, heavy equipment and construction equipment thefts, and thefts of tractor trailer units.
