8th Annual Child Care Provider Health Conference

October 16, 2010 will bring a day filled with health screenings, learning opportunities and even fun activities for child care providers from across southwest Missouri. The 8th Annual Southwest Missouri Child Care Provider Health Conference will be held at Evergreen Church located at 3225 N. Farm Road 123 in Springfield. Free Health Screenings will include blood pressure, body mass index, vision, hearing, blood sugar, hemoglobin, and cholesterol testing. Tuberculosis testing will also be available. Tdap and influenza vaccinations will also be available. Screenings and immunizations will begin at 8:00 a.m. and last until 10:30 a.m. In addition, Cox Health will be offering vouchers for bone density testing to the first 50 people to visit the screening table that morning.

"This conference is a great way to take advantage of many helpful medical screenings all in the same place at the same time while also learning new information at the trainings offered. Networking with others has given me the opportunity to learn from what others are doing so that we have the best practices in our facility," said Janice Sartin. Sartin has participated in the conference for the past eight years. She encourages all of her staff to participate in the conference and urges other facilities to do the same.

Along with health screenings, one and two hour education courses will be offered beginning at 10:00 a.m. Clock hours will be available for attendees. Course topics and descriptions will be available the day of the event at the registration table.
