Amendment to 2012 Proposed Budget to be Suggested
At the Tuesday May 31, 2011 City Council meeting an amendment to the FY 2012 Proposed Operating Budget (pdf) will be proposed. The budget is on the agenda for Public Hearing as Council Bill 2011-128.
This amendment will change the General Fund Budget, the Environmental Services Department budget and the budget for Public Health.
The following changes are proposed:
- Delete the appropriation of $110,000 for Crime Lab debt repayment in the Non-Departmental section of the General Fund budget. The final payment due from the State for the Regional Crime Lab was received in late April, after the Proposed Budget was printed. The receipt of this payment will be sufficient to pay the remaining debt on the Crime Lab, so the FY 2012 appropriation can be eliminated.
- Increase the transfer from the General Fund to Public Health by $80,000. The Air Quality Program will be reinstated utilizing $45,000 of the increased funding. The remaining $35,000 will be used for animal rescue services.
- Transfer $30,000 from the General Fund to the Solid Waste division of the Environmental Services Department. This funding will be used for a public education effort to proactively address Springfield's possible designation as a non-attainment area. Public outreach programs will be developed working closely with Ozarks Clean Air Alliance to assist businesses and industry.
- Amend the budgeted positions in the Golf fund by freezing the position of golf facilities superintendent and unfreezing the golf course superintendent position. This change was requested by the Springfield-Greene County Park Board.
