Stormwater Improvements Underway at Bissett School-Park

The Springfield Public Works Department’s Stormwater Engineering Division has coordinated the design of a stormwater improvement project within the Bissett School-Park site, 3014 W. Calhoun Street, in northwest Springfield.

The project consists of re-grading an existing detention basin and construction of a new detention basin that will be connected to the existing downstream storm sewer system. The changes will help mitigate existing downstream flooding problems.

Springfield Public Schools and the Springfield-Greene County Park Board have consented to the construction of the project, which began this week. Construction has been scheduled to occur while school is out for the summer and will be performed by City of Springfield Public Works crews. Users of the trail at Bissett Park should expect a brief disruption of trail access during construction.
