Arrest Made in Child Abuse Case

The SPD was contacted on June 29th about an incident involving an alleged child abuse where a two year old child had blunt trauma to his ribs causing vomiting, lethargy and abdominal pain. Confirmation from medical staff showed the child to have free fluid, free air, rib fractures and a possible splenic fracture. The child was transported from a Springfield hospital to a children’s hospital in Kansas City. The child is currently listed in critical and unstable condition.

John R. Albert (12-20-90) was arrested for First Degree Assault and Child Abuse.  He is currently being held in the Greene County Jail on a $250,000 bond. Albert is the boyfriend of the child’s mother.
