Stolen Police Equipment Under Investigation

The Springfield Police Department is assisting the Greene County Sheriff’s Office with the investigation of stolen police equipment. Initial investigation by the Green County Sheriff’s Office, indicates that several police related equipment items, including an AR-15 rifle and a Remington 870 Shotgun, were stolen from a Springfield Police Officer’s privately owned vehicle. The incident is believed to have occurred sometime between July 16 and 17, 2011, near the south-west part of the city limits and Greene County.

The Chief of Police is requesting that any information relating to the theft of the items, be immediately reported to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO #1031011).

Anonymous tips may also be reported to the Crime Stoppers Hotline (869-TIPS). Cash rewards up to $1,000.00 are available to persons furnishing information to the arrest and filing of charges against persons involved.
