Police Arrest Man on Child Pornography Charges

The Springfield Police Department arrested a man for Promotion of Child Pornography and Attempted Statutory Sodomy. Kevin P. Dobbs, 36, of Neosho, initiated contact with a 16 year old female through a social networking site, and then by cell phone text messages. According to the investigation of the incident, Dobbs contacted the juvenile during the week of July 18, 2011, and claimed to be a professional photographer. During the texting contact, Dobbs offered to pay large sums of money for photographs, video, and sexually explicit acts involving the juvenile.

Springfield Police contacted Dobbs when he arrived in Springfield, on July 21, 2011, after he told the juvenile he would meet her near Broadway and Atlantic. After officers contacted Dobbs, he was taken into custody without incident. Formal charges relating to the incident are expected later today.
