The Springfield-Greene County Park Board’s Mediacom Ice Park will host the 2011 Show-Me-State Adult Ice Hockey Tournament on Friday, July 29 – Sunday, July 31.

Ten teams will compete in a non-checking tournament. There are players representing 11 different states including: Illinois, New York, New Jersey, Iowa, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota, Colorado, and Missouri.  Players from states other than Missouri are also allowed to play in the games, because of the “open weekend” format of play.

Each game will last approximately one hour and fifteen minutes, not including Zamboni time. There will be five Friday games with start times between 4:30 – 10:30 p.m., 10 Saturday games between 7 a.m. – 10 p.m., four Sunday games starting with Semi-Finals at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., the Bronze Medal game beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday and the Championship Game beginning at 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Admission is free to the public and concessions are opened for all three days. This is the eight year the event has been hosted by the Mediacom Ice Park, 635 E. Trafficway. Call the Ice Park at 417-866-7444 for more information.

“The games are especially exciting to watch because they are fast-paced with current and former players from Missouri colleges and players from NCAA Division I colleges around the country,” said Tournament Coordinator Al Valdivia.
