Police Investigate Possible Stabbing

The Springfield Police Department is investigating an assault involving a possible stabbing. Officers responded to the Cox South Hospital, located at 3801 S. National, and spoke to Justin M. Jones. According to Jones, he stopped at the Kum and Go, located at 2506 W. College, at 4:30 a.m. this morning. He said the only thing he remembers is buying a granola bar.

Jones’ work associate, Sam Butts, exited the store and found Jones lying on the parking lot. Butts drove Jones to his residence, where Jones’ spouse, Vanessa, found stab wounds to the right side of his back. Vanessa drove Justin to the hospital, where he was admitted for the stab wounds and a punctured lung. Jones could not provide the investigating officers with any suspect information relating to the incident.

The Springfield Police Department is asking for anyone with any information regarding this incident, to contact 417-864-1810
