Workforce Investment Board Helps Hy-Vee Hiring

The Ozark Region Workforce Investment Board is pleased to announce the results of a successful hiring event held earlier this month for Hy-Vee at the Springfield Missouri Career Center. Utilizing the services of the Missouri Career Center available to businesses in the Ozark Region, Hy-Vee hired more than 550 employees for its new store.

The Ozark Region Workforce Investment Board and Missouri Career Center serve the counties of Christian, Dallas, Polk, Stone, Taney, and Webster. The Region boasts two Career Centers (Springfield and Branson), as well as a Mobile Career Center. The Region has a long history of working with businesses to meet their needs, whether it be hiring, testing and training of employees, or providing valuable information and assistance to make a business a success.

Business Service Representatives at the Missouri Career Center began working with Hy-Vee in early January to plan the hiring event. Candidates first submitted online applications. Hy-Vee then began interviewing at the Springfield Career Center in early August. Last week, more than 700 individuals took part in a special hiring fair that allowed applicants to be interviewed and hired on the spot. Along with the 300 interviewed during the weeks prior, this event put the total number of applicants over 1,000.

The Ozark Region Workforce Investment Board wishes to congratulate Hy-Vee on its successful event, and looks forward to the store's grand opening in mid-October. The new store will be located at 1720 W. Battlefield, Springfield, MO, 65807.
