For Immediate Release
CU Budget Bill Expected to be Held Over Until Sept. 20
The Springfield City Council will not vote on the City Utilities annual operating budget at its regular meeting Monday, Sept. 19. Instead, it is anticipated that Council Bill 2011-204 will be held over until a special Council meeting scheduled for noon the following day, Tuesday, Sept. 20.
The change is necessary due to City Charter rules in Section 16.8 that require two weeks between the public hearing of the utility’s budget and a final vote by Council. Because the last City Council meeting was held on Tuesday, Sept. 6, due to the Labor Day holiday on Monday, Sept. 5, the vote will need to be held one day later to fulfill the Charter requirement.
