Harvest Fest Kicks Off Fall Season at Rutledge-Wilson Farm

The Rutledge-Wilson Farm Community Park kicks off the fall season with its annual Harvest Fest, presented by Wells Fargo Advisers. This celebration will have unique harvest themed events and activities, including a 10-acre corn maze shaped into a rooster.

Harvest Fest

Harvest Fest will run 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 24 & Noon – 5 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 25. Free activities include: farm demonstrations, sheep shearing, horseshoeing, dog herding, and performances by Stars N' Steeds Drill Team. Paid activities include: make-your-own scarecrow for $10; horse-drawn hayrides for $3; facepainting, $1-$3; pony rides for $3; kids crafts for $1; and pumpkin decorating for $1.

Corn Maze

This is the Farm’s fourth year for a corn maze, which is open every weekend in October. Hours are: 5 – 9 p.m., Fridays; Noon -9 p.m., Saturdays & Sundays. There are two levels of difficulty – youth/adult and toddler/parent, both with separate non-connecting entrances and exits. (An aerial photo is attached.)

Admission to the maze is $5, 12 years and older; $3.50, 5 – 11 years of age; free for kids 5 and under. The maze is available to groups from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Tuesday – Friday. Groups should call 417-837-5945 for times and cost.

Fall Items for Purchase

A pick-your-own pumpkin patch is available during the same times as the maze. Pumpkins are $4.50 each, large pumpkins are $8. Other items available, while supplies last, include: mums for $7; cornstalk bundles for $3; straw bales for $5 each. Hayrides with Clydesdale horses are available every Friday – Sunday during the month of October for $3 (age 5 and older).
