Battlefield and Kansas Signal Begins Flashing Oct. 11

At 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011, City of Springfield signal crews will turn on the new traffic signal at Battlefield Road and Kansas Avenue to flashing operation. The signal will flash yellow on Battlefield Road and red on Kansas Avenue.

Final construction activities including paving, sidewalks, pavement striping, and cleanup will continue through next week.

On Oct. 17, 2011, the new traffic signal will switch to full operation. Changeable message signs will be placed on Battlefield Road in advance of the new signal to notify approaching motorists that the signal will be operating normally on Oct. 17.

This signalization project is needed to accommodate increasing traffic volumes on Battlefield Road and Kansas Avenue.
