October Parks Show Goes Underground

The October episode of the Springfield-Greene County Park Board's "Know Your Parks" television show is now airing on Mediacom Connections Channel 22 and is also streaming online at http://1.usa.gov/n7nDIE.

On this month's show the Park Board is underground at Riverbluff Cave, taking a rare, inside look at this amazing underground resource. Find out why it holds the title as oldest fossil cave in North America and how the events of Sept. 11, 2001 helped to preserve this cave forever.

Also on this month's show, hear from representatives of the Park board and the Developmental Center of the Ozarks as they discuss the upcoming Turkey Trot 5K run/walk this Thanksgiving. Learn what it takes to pull off this event, which drew more than 7,100 participants – making it the largest run/walk in the state of Missouri.

"Know Your Parks" shows are available at 7 p.m., Fridays and 9 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the month on Mediacom Channel 22. The show also re-airs on CityView, Mediacom channel 80 and 80.1, the City's government channel throughout the month. Visit www.springfieldmo.gov/cityview for a monthly schedule. Viewers also can find the program on the Park Board's homepage at www.parkboard.org or on Mediacom's Video on Demand.
