Runway Ceremony Caps Off Capital Improvements

This Thursday, November 10, the airport will rededicate its longest runway, which has been closed since June for repaving. The rededication ceremony marks the end of a capital improvements program that began in 2006.

"This has been the largest capital improvements program in the airport's 66 year history," says Brian Weiler, the airport's director of aviation. "The improvements that have been made give the community and the region a world-class airport that will serve us well for years to come."

The capital improvements program began with the ground breaking for the airport's new terminal in May of 2006. Since then the airport has finished the following projects for an approximate cost of $148.6 million:

Rededication Ceremony

Where: Springfield-Branson National Airport. 2300 North Airport Blvd.

When: Thursday, November 10, 2011. 10:30 am.

Media Planning to attend should arrive at 10:00 and park in the shuttle/taxi parking lot on the east side of the terminal. A shuttle will take all participants to the ceremony site, which is on the secure part of the airfield. The rededication ceremony begins at 10:30 am.
