Campground on NLECI Property to Close

The City of Springfield, Larry Rice and the New Life Evangelistic Center, Inc., (NLECI) have come to an agreement that the use of the NLECI property at 806 N. Jefferson, Springfield, MO, as a campground is not allowed and will cease and be cleared by 3 p.m. Friday, November 18, 2011.

"We're very pleased to resolve this round of issues with Mr. Rice and the New Life Evangelistic Center in a civil manner," said Greg Burris, City Manager. "Both sides have agreed that the use of that property as a campground was, in fact, in violation of the City's zoning regulations, and Mr. Rice and the Center have agreed not to use that property in that manner in the future."

The City continues to work with the Council of Churches and Kitchen's "One Door" program to make services available to those individuals who have been camping on this property.

The signed Stipulation of Facts and Order documents are available on the City's homepage at: www.springfieldmo.gov .
