Police Honor Retiring Major Hartman
The Springfield Police Department will be honoring Major Ron Hartman during a retirement ceremony on January 19th at the SPD at 2:00 p.m. The ceremony will take place in the gym.
Major Ron Hartman is a 25-year veteran with the Springfield Missouri Police Department. During that time he has served in the Uniform Operations, Criminal Investigations, and Support Divisions of the Department. A few of his diverse assignments include serving in the Community Services Section, Special Response Team, Narcotics Investigations, and Gang Task Force. For the past four years Major Hartman has served as the Uniform Operations Division Commander and also served as the Interim Chief of Police; responsible for all Police Department Operations.
Major Hartman holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Drury University. He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy (220th session) and the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command in 2001.
Major Hartman has instructed on a National and International level for organizations such as the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), Police Executive Research Forum (PERF), and the Department of Justice. His instructional areas of expertise include Less Lethal Force Options, Critical Incident Management, Civil Disorder Management, and Contemporary Patrol Administration. He has conducted classes throughout the United States and numerous countries.
Major Hartman is a native of Springfield, a graduate of Hillcrest High School, and a member of Second Baptist Church. He and his wife, Teresa, have three children: Matt, Chad, and Christin.
