Arrests for Solicitation and Trespass

On 05/14/2012, in response to citizen complaints, the Springfield Police Department focused extra enforcement efforts on persons who were involved in solicitation and trespassing on private properties. SPD officers made nine arrests relating to Aggressive Solicitation, Solicitation from the Occupants of a Motor Vehicle, Trespassing, and outstanding warrants. The arrests were made in various parts of the city.

The primary focus of the SPD's activity was to deter solicitation near roadway intersections and retail shopping areas. The SPD wants to remind citizens that pedestrian safety can be compromised if a person approaches a vehicle while on the roadway. Personal safety can also be an issue if a citizen is approached by an unknown person.
