Wildflower Ride on Frisco Highline Trail

The Polk County Bike Club will host the third annual "Wildflower Ride" on the Frisco Highline Trail on National Trails Day, Saturday, June 2, 2012. This National Recreation Trail crosses 16 historic railroad bridges and cuts through the middle of beautiful native La Petit Gem Prairie - in full June bloom - at mile marker 32!

The ride begins at 8 a.m. at the Bolivar Trailhead at Bolivar Middle School, 604 W. Jackson, Bolivar, Mo. The full ride is 35 miles round-trip, but cyclists may chose their own travel distance. Rest stops will be positioned along the trail at historic Graydon Springs and Wishart, but this is otherwise a self-supported ride and flat tires must be repaired by riders.

Registration is required. Early registration is $25, available at Active.com (keyword: Wildflower) and includes a t-shirt. Early registration closes at 11:59 p.m. Thursday, May 31. Registration continues at Bolivar Middle School at 7 a.m. the morning of the event. Day-of registration is $30 and t-shirts are not guaranteed. All proceeds go to the Frisco Highline Trail maintenance fund, held at the Bolivar Community Foundation of the Ozarks.
