Police Detective Participating in Spartan Death Race

Tomorrow, June 15th Detective Josh McCain will compete in the Nationwide event known as the Spartan Death Race. The location is in Pittsfield, VT and is a two day long race in which 90% of participants are not able to complete the challenge.

Detective McCain will be trying for the second time to finish the race, having dropped out last year at hour 26. Detective McCain has been training non-stop for the event, working out 1-2 hours per day through long road marches, wood splitting, weight lifting along with other events he feels will help him complete the race.

Detective McCain joined the SPD in January 17, 2000 and worked patrol for 3½ years, then as a narcotics officer for 4½ years. He was promoted to Corporal in 2007 and is currently working for the Criminal Investigations Division.

He will be taking a 6 person support team with him this year to include his wife, son, brother and three friends – the event is sponsored by the SPD Guns Athletic Fund.
