Springfield Police Department Promotions
The Springfield Police Department will be holding a promotion ceremony on July 11th, at 3 p.m. in the auditorium at 216 W. Central. The SPD is promoting 3 Lieutenants, 1 Major and 3 non-sworn employees.
Sergeants Tad Peters, Shawn Williams and Scott Umbarger will be promoted to Lieutenant and will assume command positions within the department.
Sgt Peters has been on the department for 15 years and is currently the supervisor for Internal Affairs.
Sgt. Umbarger has been on the department for 20 years and currently a patrol squad supervisor within the Uniform Operations Bureau.
Sgt Williams has been on the department for 20 years and is currently a patrol squad supervisor within the Uniform Operations Bureau.
Lieutenant Kirk Manlove will be promoted to the rank of Major. Lieutenant Manlove has been with the SPD for 18 years and is currently assigned as the Commander of the Investigations and Support Services Bureau (ISSB) where he has been in an acting position since May 4th. Lieutenant Manlove will remain in that position following his promotion.
The following non-sworn employees will be promoted or recognized for their recent promotions within the department.
Chris Woods has been with the department for 3 years and will be promoted from Computer Forensic Analyst to Senior Computer Forensic Analyst.
Judy Bell has been with the department for 6 years and was promoted from Administrative Assistant to Office Administrator effective Mar 11th, 2012.
Melody Saul has been with the department for 6 years and was promoted from Police Service Representative to Shift Supervisor Jan 29th, 2012.
"These employees have proven that they are top performers within the department and we will benefit from their continued leadership and expanded responsibilities" said Chief Williams.
