National Night Out August 7

In 1984, the National Association of Town Watch, a nonprofit, crime prevention organization introduced the first National Night Out, 'America's Night Out Against Crime'.

National Night Out is designed to:

  1. heighten crime prevention awarenes.
  2. generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs.
  3. strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.
  4. send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

Springfield's National Night Out is Aug 7th, from 7:00–9:00 p.m. at Meador Park, 2500 S. Fremont.

The Springfield Police Department (SPD) will be displaying several vehicles for citizens to view including:

We would like to invite the public to attend the event and support the SPD and various communities' efforts in combating and preventing crime in their neighborhoods through our combined partnerships.
