National Night Out August 7
In 1984, the National Association of Town Watch, a nonprofit, crime prevention organization introduced the first National Night Out, 'America's Night Out Against Crime'.
National Night Out is designed to:
- heighten crime prevention awarenes.
- generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs.
- strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.
- send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
Springfield's National Night Out is Aug 7th, from 7:00–9:00 p.m. at Meador Park, 2500 S. Fremont.
The Springfield Police Department (SPD) will be displaying several vehicles for citizens to view including:
- DWI Enforcement Vehicle
- Segways
- MSU Patrol Vehicle
- Special Response Team Vehicle
- Dodge Patrol Units
- Traffic Motorcycles
- SPD Corvette
- Mobile Command Post
We would like to invite the public to attend the event and support the SPD and various communities' efforts in combating and preventing crime in their neighborhoods through our combined partnerships.
