Pickleball Now Available Every Wednesday

The Springfield-Greene County Park Board is now offering open play Pickleball every Wednesday, 9-11 a.m., at Doling Family Center, 301 E. Talmage St., Springfield.

Pickleball is a singles or doubles racquet sport played on a badminton-sized court with a lower net. Players use plastic balls similar to whiffle balls, and wood or composite paddles. It’s easy for beginners to learn but can develop into a fast-paced, competitive game. Pickleball has a reputation as a fun game with a friendly, social nature.

All levels of players are welcome, and registraion isnot required. Open play costs $4 and is free to members of Doling and Chesterfield Family Centers. Paddles and balls are provided. Players are asked to wear rubber-soled shoes.
