Fatality Crash Investigation

This morning at 12:39 a.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of Kansas Expressway and Hamilton, which is just south of Division, for an injury crash in the intersection. Upon arrival, officers located two vehicles, a white Chevy Suburban and a black Chevy Cavalier which was upside down due to the initial impact of the collision. A female, later identified as Holly R. Vandyck, 04/06/90 of Springfield, was found unresponsive inside the Cavalier and transported from the scene with life threatening injuries. Vandyck later succumbed to her injuries at a local area hospital.

According to witnesses at the scene, the Cavalier did not stop at the stop sign and was struck in the driver's side door.

The accident is still under investigation, and according to the preliminary investigation, alcohol may have been a factor.

Immediate family has been notified.
