Art Museum Opens Printmaking Exhibit

Can you tell the difference between an original and a reproduction print? Visit the Springfield Art Museum's printmaking exhibit to find out how. The exhibit, which runs Dec. 1 through March 17, 2013, teaches the secrets and techniques of producing high-quality, original artist prints. This exhibit will display a large array of original prints from our permanent collection, including Rembrandt van Rijn, Jacques Callot, Albrecht Durer, Mauricio Lasansky and more.

Throughout this exhibit, the museum will feature live printmaking demonstrations for both adults and children. "We will be featuring original stage proofs, printmaking tools and other equipment generously provided by local artists and our local citizens," said museum director Nick Nelson.

For more information, visit for a schedule of gallery talks, printmaking demonstrations and more hands on activities beginning January 2013.

Special thanks to Deby Gilley, Judith Fowler, Jim Broadstreet, Marcus Howell, and the Springfield Regional Arts Council for helping to make our exhibit and demonstrations possible.
