Scott to Serve as Interim SPD Public Affairs Officer

Cora Scott, City of Springfield Director of Public Information & Civic Engagement, will serve as interim Public Affairs Officer for the Springfield Police Department, beginning today, Jan. 2.

Scott steps in upon Corporal Matt Brown's departure for deployment to Afghanistan. She will work closely with Lt. Ben King to ensure communication efforts continue at the same level of service. Police Chief Paul Williams plans to replace Brown in the coming months and will begin a search later this month.

Media needing to contact SPD, may do so through Scott during regular working hours and continue to contact the on-duty watch commanders after 5 p.m. and on weekends. Scott can be reached at 417-380-3352 or cscott@springfieldmo.gov.

Starting Jan. 2, SPD will reinstitute the Media Phone Line (874-1200 #44155) The media line will be regularly updated. In addition, SPD has launched a social media initiative committed to providing updated information 24/7 on Facebook and Twitter.

"This will provide a smooth and seamless transition in our efforts to keep the public informed and sustain our high level of commitment to our media partners."
